Short
History
The seeds of BioAware were sown almost 15 years ago when Dr. Vincent Robert wanted
to identify yeasts isolated from the African tropical forest and found it impossible
using dichotomic keys. He than developed some basic software solutions to solve
his problems. The first projects were realized in an academic context. But the
demand for biological resource management software was so important that the settlement
of a private structure was the next logical step. BioAware was established in July
2000 as a spin-off of the Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures (an institute of
the Royal Academy of Sciences in The Netherlands) but was registered in Belgium under the form of a limited company. Dr. Vincent
Robert and Baudouin Moenaert were the two co-founders of the company.
