New feature: V field has now two comparison algorithms by Webmaster Company 2018-01-23 09:57:33

NewFeature.png The V-Field has now two comparison algorithms:
- On/Off: sim = 0.0 if values are different; if values are identical: sim = 1.0
- Proportional: sim = 1.0 - difference between the two values divided by the (number of possible values - 2)

Ex. with 6 possible values (0 = unknown, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5):
sim = 1.0 - abs(5 - 5) / 4.0 = 1.0
sim = 1.0 - abs(5 - 4) / 4.0 = 0.75
sim = 1.0 - abs(5 - 3) / 4.0 = 0.5
sim = 1.0 - abs(5 - 2) / 4.0 = 0.25
sim = 1.0 - abs(5 - 1) / 4.0 = 0.0

note that comparing (5 - 4) or comparing (2-1) give the same result:
sim = 1.0 - abs(5 - 4) / 4.0 = 0.75
sim = 1.0 - abs(2 - 1) / 4.0 = 0.75

For more information about the V field, see our manual.

Did you know - Send records to other table by Webmaster Company 2017-12-26 11:08:40

SendRecordToOtherTable.gif Did you know that in BioloMICS you can send records from one table to another?

When equivalency is set between the fields in the the two tables, the data can be sent in a second. An example when this is much of use is when you want users to deposit data into your database through the online deposit form. You do not want the people to add data directly into your curated table. Therefore a duplicated table can receive all new information and once that data is curated it can be sent to the good and curated table. In this way you are sure that the data in your table is trustable.

For more information, check out our helpfile.
