Here you find the updates about the changes made in this manual.
 
  • Manual Version 24.4.1 - March 2024
  • New functions in first step of the wizard in Download genomes tool.
  • "=MATRIXFITTING" Formula added to be used to compare matrices (KMER clustering)
  • In clustering (clutsering tree and MDS) a new option is added to provide a title. This text will be visible on top of the clustering tree (tab name) as well as at the bottom of the matrix grid (sheet name).
  • Similarity matrix: Details of the matrix (summary) are displayed in a cell just under the matrix.
  • Group settings: Usergroup ID 63 is now reserved for the Super Administrators group.
  • Data export: sections for new templates and existing templates are swapped from position.
  • Gel analysis tool improved.
  • .tiff files now also accepted as gel picture format.
  • Colors of the lines in the interpolate step are adapted to make it more clear even when having many marker bands.
  • In the step Band detection, the code behind has been adapted slightly to make sure that less unwanted bands are detected at the most top and most bottom of each lane. The available parameters in the ribbon can still be used to adapt to the current gel in the analysis.
  • Send record to other table now has the option to replace the data (besides the merge option).

  • Download genomes directly from NCBI. Button in Molecular Tools tab in the ribbon.

  • Export tool has been adapted to make it compatible with the export tool in the web version.

    - In section "Privacy and security", the link to our website was missing the "-" and this has now been corrected.
    - In section "Disclaimer" there was written "The website are", this has been corrected to "The website is".
    - Review date has been added at the end of the document

  • When importing data in a Date (H) field and the year is written with 2 digits, then it is considered in the years 2000. If it is meant to be in the years 1900 then the 4 digit value of the year will need to be used.
  • Ontology (O) field now be selected in the advanced settings of the Summary (Y) field in the field settings.
  • Ontology (O) field advanced settings: properties option has been removed. Level of display remains.
  • When adding the preformatted tables of MIRRI, 2 extra fields are included: GMO (V field) in the Strains table and Full reference (E/Text field) in the Bibliography table.

  • New BioloMICS version numbering from now on. Based on date of publish. 20.6.22.168 was published on June 22nd, 2020. Numbering on this manual is not linked to the version numbering of BioloMICS.
  • Options: Track my activity defines if your activities will be tracked in the login system and if an email will be sent to you when opening a database.
  • Edit linked records has now a search option available.
  • Right click option on link fields in the tree has now the option to add or replace the opened records in the linked table. Counts for all link field types.
  • Identification and classification tool grid options computed and displayed.
  • Identification results, new option to add/display extra fields to the lower grid.
  • Gel analysis tool: exact match search when importing gel data.
  • Ontology viewer: Delete record button removed; Two extra buttons to open and close all folders.
  • In the Page layout tab, the buttons for the print settings are removed, these settings can now be set in the Backstage section, Print.
  • The icon of the i field (integer) has been changed to .
  • Report designer functionality improved.

  • Annotations have been renamed to Suggestions. The functionality of the tool has not changes.
  • New option: Unlock configuration. During modifications, the configuration tables and records may be temporary locked. After a computer crash or a network shutdown, some records may remain locked forever, as BioloMICS could not unlock them. To unlock all records, click this button.
  • New button "Allow Edition" in Clustering tree and MDS. This button allows updating data in the database from the analysis tool directly.
  • Searching in a number field for a given range, use " ... "
  • Save and load queries from cloud.
  • Molecular view tool to visualize molecular structures.

In BioloMICS version 12 we have introduced new features and improved functionalities.
  • When you login into BioloMICS desktop an email will be sent to the registered email address of the user.
  • New field types have been introduced: ALink, CLink, DLink, HLink, ILink, KLink, MLink, SLink, TLink, VLink.
  • New analysis tool to display and analyze Maldi-Tof data - [Spectral Analysis]
  • New comparison algorithms for W and WLink fields for Maldi-Tof tool.
  • Identification tool has been reviewed and made more straightforward, including new algorithms for all link fields (best, worst, average).
  • Clustering tool has been reviewed and made more straightforward, option to export to newick format has been removed.
  • Search panel does now keep 20 queries in memory.
  • Thirty-nine new formulas introduced. Thirty 38 based on Microsoft Excel and one specific for BioloMICS (FIELDSAVE)  to update a given record based on other data: =fieldsave("No", A3, "v6693").
  • In the importation tool, when one wants to merge but this is not possible then a message appears asking to continue or not.
  • [Global Search] tool can be activated now and used to search fast through multiple tables. To activate, the Crawler takes the data from the MySQL database and 'stores' it in a MongoDB database. The Finder is used to retrieve the data from the MongoDB database. It only uses data from fields that are indexed. Field types that can be indexed are E, T and V.
  • In the backstage section, in Print the place to select the template is moved from the bottom to the top
  • The buttons in the ribbons on the main window have been reviewed.
  • The following buttons are moved from the Other Tools tab to the Home tab: Table View (Open Table View), Global Search, History, Spreadsheet (Open Spreadsheet), Word Document (Open Word Processor) and Cloud Folders (Cloud viewer).
  • [GIS Maps] button in the Other Tools tab has been removed, maps can be opened through right-click on the grid: View on map.
  • [Graphic Viewer] button to show W field graphs.
  • In the Options a new option has been added:
  • Max number of target records loaded in queries The maximum number of linked records loaded when running queries on a target table (default 100000).
  • In the Options 2 options have been removed:
  • Alternate row colors in grid.
  • Automatic opening pictures gallery when double click on pictures Double click on a picture will open the picture gallery.
  • MicrosoftSQL available as database backend.
  • Annotation button has been moved from the tab Other Tools to the Date tab.
  • New instruction movies for version 12 added for the main features.
